No progress with Yumi except that they said she can start on liquids! So dinner was delivered tonight and it consisted of beef broth (yum), 2 red jellos and 2 cran-rasp juices. Take it slowly, they said. She still has the NG tube but it is on gravity.
Dr. Kim made an appearance tonight after a week of vacation. He is the one who did Yumi's surgery in April. He said we can start slowly even though it appears she has like a partial kink in her bowel. If she tolerates the liquids then she can be upgraded to solids maybe tomorrow. At this rate, I'm thinking she will probably be released Monday. That's if all goes as planned. With a partial kink, it could be that the stuff gets backed up even if it's going slowly. If this is the case, she would not be able to go home, as they prefer her to be 100% to be able to leave.
During the day, Yumi seems to have tired of Hannah Montana (or at least I have), and Suite Life, and has discovered the comforts of watching the Food Channel. She says sometimes when people are eating on the tv she can actually taste it too! Everyone gets a kick out of that! She needs to be up and walking around so it is good that her friend Faith is coming up tonight.
I will be going out with my buds tonight and taking the scenic route around to Chilis on the Eastside. The 520 is closed all weekend for annual maintenance and we won't be able to go that way. I'm already trying to decide what to eat. Hopefully I won't go wild having 2 dinners out in a row!
